Unprecedented Verbal Clash in Legislative Council Over Rahul Gandhi’s Statement
The Maharashtra Legislative Council was rocked by a heated verbal clash between members of the ruling Mahayuti and opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi parties on Monday. The confrontation was sparked by a statement made by Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha, which led to a fiery exchange between Leader of the Opposition Ambadas Danve and BJP MLC Prasad Lad.
The commotion escalated as BJP members accused Danve of using abusive language during the argument. Deputy Chairperson Neelam Gorhe was forced to adjourn the House for the day amidst the chaos.
The tension began when Lad brought up Gandhi’s alleged statement about the Hindu community in the Lok Sabha. This led to objections from MVA members, resulting in multiple adjournments of the House.
After the second adjournment, Lad demanded a resolution condemning Gandhi, which was met with opposition from Danve. The situation escalated as both parties engaged in a war of words, with allegations of abusive language being thrown around.
Following the altercation, Gorhe reprimanded the members for their behavior and adjourned the House. In a subsequent media interaction, Lad and another BJP MLC, Praveen Darekar, called for Danve’s removal from his position as Leader of the Opposition.
In response, Danve defended his actions, stating that he was merely showing the ruling party the aggression of a “real Shiv Sainik.” He emphasized his commitment to Hindutva and criticized Lad for attempting to teach him about the ideology.
The clash in the Legislative Council highlights the deep-rooted political tensions in Maharashtra, with both sides standing firm in their positions. As the fallout continues, the future of the leadership in the council remains uncertain.
