Poland Contemplates Shooting Down Russian Missiles over Ukraine as Kremlin Reacts to Biden’s Mistake

Russia’s Response to Joe Biden’s Gaffes at NATO Summit

In a recent NATO summit, US President Joe Biden made a series of gaffes that caught the attention of the world, including Russia. During the summit, Biden mistakenly introduced Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as “President Putin” before correcting himself. He also mixed up the names of his Republican rival Donald Trump with Vice President Kamala Harris.

Videos of Biden’s gaffes quickly made their way to Russian news bulletins, where state TV has often portrayed the 81-year-old president as a senile old man. A Kremlin spokesperson downplayed Biden’s mistakes as “slips of the tongue,” while a representative of Russia’s foreign ministry jokingly referred to Biden as a “pro-Russian candidate being controlled by the Kremlin.”

Maria Zakharova, a spokesperson for Russia, used Biden’s errors to mock US allegations of Russian interference in American politics. She sarcastically commented on Telegram, suggesting that Biden’s mistakes revealed a pro-Russian bias. Zakharova also accused the “US deep state” of covering up Biden’s condition for years, questioning whether he is fit to sign off on billions of dollars in aid to Ukraine.

Despite the criticism from Russia, some European leaders came to Biden’s defense. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof all stood by Biden, with Scholz stating that “slips of the tongue happen” and that Biden has overcome challenges like a childhood stutter throughout his career.

Biden, who has previously stated that his health is in good shape, has faced scrutiny over his mental acuity. He has expressed willingness to undergo another neurological exam if recommended by his doctors, emphasizing that age can bring wisdom if one pays attention. The incident at the NATO summit has reignited discussions about Biden’s fitness for office and his ability to lead effectively.
