President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris Launch New Coalition to Bolster Support from Black Voters

President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are set to make a significant announcement in Philadelphia on Wednesday as they launch a new coalition aimed at strengthening support from Black voters. The initiative, known as Black Voters for Biden-Harris, will be unveiled during a rally at Girard College, a historically Black college preparatory school in the city.

The event will feature the presence of several prominent Black Democrats, including Lt. Gov. Austin Davis of Pennsylvania, Gov. Wes Moore of Maryland, and Mayor Cherelle Parker of Philadelphia. Following the rally, a nationwide “week of action” will kick off, with Black leaders mobilizing voters in key battleground states.

This move comes as the Biden campaign intensifies its efforts to regain support from Black voters, who have been a crucial demographic for the Democratic Party. Recent polls have shown some frustration among Black voters towards the president, citing concerns about the cost of living, immigration, and a perceived focus on foreign affairs over domestic issues.

In response, the Biden campaign has been actively engaging with Black communities, with recent appearances at historically Black colleges, labor union events, and the release of a television ad targeting Black voters in battleground states. The campaign is also working to counter any attempts by former President Donald Trump to capitalize on dissatisfaction among Black voters.

Quentin Fulks, the president’s principal deputy campaign manager, emphasized the importance of these efforts, stating, “While we are busy putting in the work to earn Black America’s support, Donald Trump continues to show just how ignorant he is.” The Biden campaign is determined to show its commitment to engaging and listening to Black voters as they gear up for the upcoming election.
