Sony Pictures Entertainment Promotes Drew Shearer to Executive VP and CFO
Sony Pictures Entertainment has announced the promotion of Drew Shearer to executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective October 1. Shearer will be taking over from Philip Rowley, who has been in the role since 2016.
With nearly 30 years of experience at Sony, Shearer has held various finance roles within the company, including director of internal audit for Sony Corporation of America and finance director of Sony Pictures Television Studios. In 2014, he was promoted to executive vice president and group divisional CFO, overseeing global financial affairs for the studio’s corporate departments.
Tony Vinciquerra, chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment, praised Shearer’s financial insights and efficiencies, stating that they have driven strong results for the company. Rowley also expressed his gratitude for his time at Sony Pictures, highlighting the success the company has seen in recent years.
Sony Pictures Entertainment, known for its film and TV productions, recently had a hit with “Bad Boys: Ride or Die.” The studio also made headlines for acquiring Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, marking its return to owning a movie theater after more than 75 years.
Shearer’s promotion comes at a dynamic time for the industry, and his leadership is expected to drive continued success for Sony Pictures Entertainment.
