Celebrating New Businesses and Mural at Historic Marshall Building
New Businesses and Mural Celebrated in Downtown Marshall
The historic building at the corner of 309 E. Austin St. in Marshall, Texas, once home to the Marshall News Messenger, has been revitalized with the opening of two new businesses and a stunning mural on its exterior.
Matis Productions and its partners have spent the last 10 months transforming the old East Austin building into a vibrant hub for the community. The grand opening celebration last week marked the official debut of Briefcase Cowork and House of Light Photography, as well as the unveiling of a captivating mural by artist Jill Davis.
Briefcase Cowork, located at the front of the building, offers high-end office space for rent. The newly renovated space features fully furnished offices, high-speed internet, office amenities, and unlimited coffee for tenants. Margaret Perry, one of the partners in the project, expressed gratitude for the community’s support and shared excitement for the new venture.
House of Light Photography, housed in the exterior of the building, is a photography studio run by two talented photographers, Becky Koesel and Christian Gipson. With years of experience and a passion for capturing special moments, the duo offers a range of photography services by appointment.
The highlight of the celebration was the unveiling of the mural on the building’s exterior. Artist Jill Davis created a stunning piece that showcases the essence of Marshall, incorporating elements like the Marshall Depot, Caddo Lake, and the town’s rich history. The mural serves as a welcoming beacon to downtown Marshall, capturing the spirit of the community.
The Greater Marshall Chamber of Commerce joined the festivities to welcome the new businesses and celebrate the revitalization of the historic building. Steven Matis, a part owner and partner in the project, described the journey as a labor of love, emphasizing the dedication and hard work that went into the project.
As the new businesses settle into their spaces and the mural becomes a permanent fixture in downtown Marshall, the community looks forward to the continued growth and vibrancy of the area.
