The University of Scranton’s Class of 2024 Business Honors Program Graduates Shine

Eleven members of The University of Scranton’s class of 2024 recently graduated from its prestigious Frank P. Corcione Business Honors Program, showcasing their dedication to excellence in the fields of economics, entrepreneurship, operations management, accounting, finance, international business, marketing, and management. These students underwent four years of rigorous honors studies, as well as engaging in personal development extracurricular activities focused on service and career building.

Among the standout graduates is Madalyne R. Buhler from Stony Point, New York, who graduated summa cum laude as a finance major. Buhler’s thesis, “An Analysis of the 1996 Farm Bill’s Impact on Commodity Prices and Obesity Rates in America,” was a highlight of her time in the program. Matthew J. Duffy, from Plainview, New York, also graduated summa cum laude with a double major in business analytics and philosophy, presenting a thesis titled “A Machine Learning Approach to MLB Attendance.”

Other notable graduates include Nina J. Figetakis, Todd F. Monahan, Hannah G. Phelan, Geoffrey S. Pizzuto, Gabrielle Richetti, Matthew A. Roda, Madelyn G. Ronan, John J. Sheehan, and Kaleigh E. Timmons, each showcasing their talents and dedication to their respective majors.

The Business Honors Program students presented their senior projects to a panel of judges in early May, with Madalyne R. Buhler receiving the award for best senior project. Honorable mention awards were presented to Hannah G. Phelan and Madelyn G. Ronan for their outstanding work.

Aram Balagyozyan, Ph.D., associate professor of economics and director of the University’s Frank P. Corcione Business Honors Program, expressed pride in the accomplishments of the graduates, highlighting their hard work and dedication to their studies. The future looks bright for these talented individuals as they embark on their professional journeys, equipped with the knowledge and skills gained from their time in the program.
