Celebrities React to Trump-Biden Debate: “Every Word Out of His Mouth is a Lie”
Celebrities took to social media to share their thoughts on the first presidential debate of the 2024 election between former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden. The debate, which lasted 90 minutes, was widely criticized for Trump’s continued lies and falsehoods, while Biden struggled to articulate his points.
Actor and comedian Roseanne Barr expressed her sadness over the debate, tweeting, “Biden is clearly not here. This is sad. Obama is sacrificing his friend to push his radical policies and I don’t want any of us celebrating after this.” She urged people to pray for the country instead.
Bette Midler, a prominent Democratic supporter, called out Trump for his lies, saying, “Every word out of his mouth is a lie. Every single word.” She praised Biden for answering the questions and criticized Trump for evading them.
“The View” co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin highlighted the significance of the debate, saying, “Tonight will be remembered in the history books in one of two ways: as the moment adults in the room stepped up & convinced Biden to step aside. Or it will be remembered as the night Trump solidified his path back to the White House.”
Reality star Caitlyn Jenner, a vocal Trump supporter, called Biden a “total and complete failure and clearly in major mental decline,” urging people to “vote accordingly.”
Meanwhile, Jon Stewart, in a live election special of “The Daily Show,” joked about the candidates needing performance-enhancing drugs to improve their lucidity and truthfulness.
Overall, the debate left Democrats in a state of “deep panic,” with some even suggesting that Biden should step down as the party’s candidate. Vice President Kamala Harris acknowledged Biden’s slow start but emphasized the choice in November between “the destruction of democracy” or “strengthening America’s economy.”
Despite Biden’s struggles, he was able to make a few hits on Trump, particularly when he defended his son Beau Biden, who served in the military. Biden called out Trump for reportedly calling veterans “losers” and “suckers,” asserting, “You’re the sucker, you’re the loser.”
