Featured Image and Box Office Updates for Inside Out 2
Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” continues to dominate the domestic box office, raking in $57.4 million in its third weekend. The animated film has also crossed the $1 billion mark in global ticket sales in just 19 days, setting a record for animated films. Directed by Kelsey Mann, the sequel introduces a new cast of emotions as Riley enters her teenage years.
The star-studded voice cast includes Amy Poehler, Maya Hawke, Tony Hale, and more. Despite its success, “Inside Out 2” faces competition from Illumination and Universal’s “Despicable Me 4,” which is already making waves in select foreign markets.
In second place at the box office is “A Quiet Place: Day One,” the prequel to the hit horror franchise. Directed by Michael Sarnoski and starring Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn, the film opened to $53 million domestically and $45.5 million internationally.
Meanwhile, Kevin Costner’s Western film “Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter One” struggled at the box office with an estimated $11 million opening. The film, which Costner invested heavily in, failed to meet expectations despite targeting a specific demographic.
Other notable releases include “Bad Boys 4,” which continues to perform well at the box office, and the Indian Telugu-language film “Kalki 2898 AD,” which rounded out the top five.
At the specialty box office, Searchlight’s “Kinds of Kindness” and Magnolia’s “Thelma” saw success, while Sony Pictures Classics’ “Daddio” failed to make an impact despite strong reviews.
Overall, the box office is seeing a resurgence with a mix of animated, horror, and specialty films captivating audiences worldwide.
