A calmer day expected before potential severe weather later in the week


Weather Forecast for Central Texas by Nick Bannin, Kristen Currie, Rich Segal, and Jim Spencer – May 29, 2024

The Central Texas area experienced some rain showers in the past 24 hours, with higher rain totals in Blanco and Gillespie Counties. The Pedernales River gauges in Fredericksburg and Johnson City added water into Lake Travis. The weather forecast for the rest of the day includes sunny to partly cloudy skies with temperatures around 90°F.

There is a marginal risk of flooding today, but no severe storms are expected. Showers are predicted to move in from the southeast this evening, with a better chance of thunderstorms, some of which could be severe, tomorrow morning. The flood threat level for Lampasas and San Saba Counties is at Level 2, while the rest of the area remains at Level 1.

Friday’s forecast includes potentially severe storms with a 50% chance of precipitation and a Level 2 flood threat for much of the area. Rain chances decrease to 20% over the weekend, with temperatures hovering around 90°F through Saturday before reaching the mid-90s early next week.
