Meteorologist Peter Hall’s Updated Forecast: July 3-9

The Fourth of July forecast has been updated by meteorologist Peter Hall, and it looks like Central New York will be in for a mix of clouds and sunshine with a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms.

On Wednesday night, expect mostly cloudy skies with passing scattered showers and thunderstorms, along with muggy and warm conditions. The low will be in the upper 60s to lower 70s.

For Thursday, the Fourth of July, there will be a chance for lingering scattered showers or thundershowers in the morning, followed by a mixture of clouds and sunshine. Most areas in CNY should stay dry during the afternoon, but there is a chance for pop-up showers or thunderstorms in southeastern sections. The high will be near 88 degrees.

Thursday night looks to be dry for fireworks time, with a partly cloudy to mostly clear sky and a risk for patchy valley fog late. The low will be in the middle to upper 60s.

On Friday, expect a mix of sunshine and clouds with dry weather for most of the day. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible towards sunset and into the night, with a high in the upper 80s to near 90.

Friday night will bring a higher risk for occasional scattered showers and thunderstorms, along with very warm and humid conditions. The low will be between 70 to 75 degrees.

Saturday will start off mostly cloudy with a risk for lingering scattered showers, but clouds will mix with intervals of sunshine. Another borderline hot afternoon is expected, with a high in the upper 80s.

Sunday will see a mix of clouds and sunshine, with most areas staying dry. There is a 20% chance of a brief shower in a couple of spots, with a high near 82 degrees.

As the week continues, expect sunshine and some clouds on Monday, with a high in the upper 80s. Tuesday will bring partly sunny skies in the morning, followed by scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon to evening, with a high in the upper 80s to lower 90s.
