Businesses on 16th Street Mall Struggling Amid Construction
Businesses along the 16th Street Mall in Colorado are facing a tough time as construction work continues to disrupt their operations. Jayanth Sashi, a local business owner offering beauty services, has seen a significant drop in foot traffic and revenue due to the ongoing construction.
Sashi, who has been operating on the mall for five years, points out that the lack of parking and the construction work have deterred new customers from visiting her shop. She, along with many other businesses on the mall, is struggling to attract customers and stay afloat amidst the construction chaos.
With revenue down by 50% year-over-year for some businesses, the impact of the construction is evident. RTD’s closure of light rail stations in the area for maintenance work has further added to the challenges faced by these businesses.
While the construction project is expected to be completed by September, business owners like Sashi are calling for relief and questioning the prolonged timeline. As the summer season approaches, businesses are hopeful that an influx of tourists will help revive their struggling operations on the 16th Street Mall.
