Meet Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani: The New Member of the Union Cabinet

Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, a newcomer to politics, has made a remarkable entry into the 18th Lok Sabha by being sworn in as a member of the new Union cabinet. At 48 years old, Dr Pemmasani brings a wealth of experience as a doctor and entrepreneur to his new role in government.

Originally from Guntur in Andhra Pradesh, Dr Pemmasani pursued his medical education at prestigious institutions in India and the United States. He is the founder of UWord, an online learning platform for competitive exams, and has been recognized for his entrepreneurial achievements with the Ernst and Young Award.

A loyalist of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Dr Pemmasani comes from a family with a strong connection to the party. His father was a supporter of TDP founder N.T. Rama Rao, and Dr Pemmasani himself has been actively involved in supporting TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu, even organizing events for him in the US.

In the 2024 elections, Dr Pemmasani contested and won the Guntur seat, defeating his opponent by a significant margin. Known as one of the wealthiest candidates in the elections, he has declared his family’s wealth at over ₹5,785 crore.

With his diverse background and strong ties to the TDP, Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani is poised to make a significant impact in his new role in the Union cabinet. His journey from medicine to politics is a testament to his dedication and commitment to serving the people of India.
