A Geomagnetic Storm Watch is in effect from July 30 through Aug. 1 due to increased solar activity. This could lead to vivid Northern Lights displays visible as far south as Missouri and Colorado, providing a stunning natural light show for residents in those areas.
In addition, there is a Tropical depression watch as environmental conditions are becoming more conducive for development. Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center predict that a tropical depression could form late this week, potentially near the Greater Antilles or the Bahamas before tracking towards Florida or the Southeast coast. If it strengthens into a tropical storm, it would be named Debby, marking the fourth named storm of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season.
Meanwhile, the historic Park Fire in California continues to grow, burning nearly 375,000 acres and threatening Northern California. The wildfire has already destroyed over 100 structures and is putting thousands more at risk. CAL Fire has shared dramatic footage of the fire as thousands of firefighters work tirelessly to contain the flames.
