The Glen Golf Club in North Berwick Invests in Terra Float Air Pneumatic Overseeder from Wiedenmann UK’s Exclusive Dealers
The Glen Golf Club in North Berwick has recently made a significant investment in their course maintenance equipment by acquiring a Terra Float Air pneumatic overseeder from Wiedenmann UK’s exclusive dealers in Scotland, Fairways GM. This new purchase is part of a strategic approach to meet the evolving needs of the golf course, according to Course Manager Des Kerr.
Des explained that with year-round golf and increased foot traffic, it is crucial to have the right tools to maintain the course and ensure its sustainability. The decision to invest in the overseeder was supported by the club’s agronomist, Chris Haspell, who emphasized the importance of having dedicated equipment for greens and approaches.
The Wiedenmann Air overseeder offers cutting-edge features, with the ability to insert seeds into size-appropriate dosing sleeves and aerate the soil down to 30mm. The machine’s electric-drive technology allows for precise seed delivery and application rates, making it versatile for different types of soil and seed varieties.
Des highlighted the ease of use and versatility of the overseeder, noting that it can effectively sow both fescue and bent seeds at varying depths. The club plans to use the overseeder primarily on greens and surrounds, with potential expansion to other areas of the course in the future.
Fairways GM and Wiedenmann UK provided sales support and installation assistance for the overseeder, ensuring a smooth transition for the Glen Golf Club. Des and his team are excited about the potential of the new equipment to enhance course maintenance practices and improve overall playing conditions for members and visitors.
With a dedicated team of greenkeepers and a commitment to innovation, the Glen Golf Club is well-positioned to continue its legacy as a premier golf destination in East Lothian.
