Hollywood Bowl Strikes Record Revenue in First Half of 2024

Hollywood Bowl, the popular bowling operator, has announced record-breaking revenue for the first half of the 2024 financial year. The company reported a group revenue of £119.2m, a significant increase from £110.2m in the previous year. This growth has been attributed to the successful implementation of their growth strategy in both the UK and Canada.

In the UK, Hollywood Bowl saw a 1.3 per cent increase in like-for-like revenue, while their Splitsville centres in Canada experienced an impressive eight per cent growth. The company also invested in refurbishing and rebranding several of their venues, as well as continuing their green initiative by installing solar panels at two more locations.

Furthermore, Hollywood Bowl saw a 4.5 per cent increase in spend per game due to the optimization of space and introduction of new game formats. They also expanded their entertainment offerings by adding two new Puttstars mini-golf courses at their venues.

In Canada, Hollywood Bowl acquired new centres in Guelph, Ontario and Vancouver, British Columbia, and is set to complete their first new build centre in Waterloo, Ontario this month.

CEO Stephen Burns expressed his satisfaction with the company’s performance, stating, “We are pleased to have welcomed so many families, friends, and colleagues to our centres in the first half, demonstrating the continued demand for high-quality, family-friendly leisure experiences at affordable prices. We are confident in the outlook for Hollywood Bowl and in our ability to capture the longer-term opportunity to grow our estate to over 130 centres in the next ten years.”

With a strong start to the year and promising growth prospects, Hollywood Bowl is poised for continued success in the leisure and entertainment industry.
