Update on Char Dham: More than 650 pilgrims denied entry at Badrinath due to lack of registration

Authorities Turn Away Over 650 Pilgrims at Badrinath for Lack of Registration

Over 650 pilgrims were turned away from their journey to Badrinath due to missing mandatory registration, officials reported. This decision was made to manage the flow of pilgrims to the Char Dham and prevent chaos during the yatra season.

At the Gauchar checkpoint, officials confirmed that over 650 unregistered pilgrims were denied entry, along with 120 vehicles transporting them. The Chamoli SSP office also reported penalizing five vehicle operators for bringing unregistered pilgrims to the holy site.

Authorities stressed the importance of completing mandatory registration to avoid such inconveniences. Pilgrims are urged to register online at https://registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in and plan their visit for the registered date only.

With approximately 20,000 pilgrims visiting Badrinath daily, the Uttarakhand government has extended the ban on “VIP Darshan” until May 31, 2024, to improve crowd management during the peak yatra season.

As the pilgrimage season progresses, officials continue to monitor and adapt their strategies to handle the large influx of devotees efficiently. The mandatory registration is a critical component of these efforts, ensuring a structured and safer pilgrimage experience for all participants.

Badrinath, nestled in the Garhwal Himalayas, is one of the most revered pilgrimage sites in Hinduism. The Badrinath Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, draws thousands of devotees annually with its striking architecture and scenic backdrop of the Neelkanth Peak. The site offers a unique blend of spiritual solace and adventure, with the Alaknanda River flowing by and numerous hot springs and trekking routes nearby.
