The Indian cricket team received a hero’s welcome in Delhi after lifting the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy. Stranded in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl, the Men in Blue finally arrived home to a grand reception at the Delhi Airport. Videos of the team’s arrival went viral on social media, showcasing captain Rohit Sharma proudly displaying the trophy and other players interacting with fans.
In one video, Virat Kohli and his teammates were seen waving at the crowd from their bus, while in another, pacer Arshdeep Singh greeted young fans with his winning medal. The team was also treated to a special cake made by Chef Shivneet Pahoja at ITC Maurya, paying tribute to their victory.
The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a special video of the team’s arrival, with players like Jasprit Bumrah, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma admiring the shiny trophy. BCCI secretary Jay Shah even arranged a special chartered flight to bring the team back from Barbados.
After defeating South Africa in a thrilling final, Team India brought home the T20 World Cup trophy after 17 years. The nation celebrated their victory, and the players were welcomed with open arms upon their return.
