Central Energy Softball Weekend Recap: U15 Splits Doubleheader, U17 Defeats Manitoba Angels, U13 Gains Experience in Saskatoon
Central Energy U15 and U17 teams had an eventful weekend in Brandon, with both squads showcasing their talent on the softball field.
The U15 team started off strong with a 5-4 victory over Westman Magic, thanks to a late-game heroics by Taylor Wall who hit a solo home run to secure the win. The team displayed strong defense throughout the game, turning two double plays and collecting key hits from players like Taryn Toews and Sinead Convery. Despite a heartbreaker in game two, where they lost 9-8, the Energy U15 squad sits second in the Manitoba Premier Softball League standings with a 4-2 record.
On the other hand, the U17 team dominated against Manitoba Angels, winning both games with standout performances from Brooklyn Friesen who hit two home runs and drove in five runs in the second game. The team currently holds a 7-2 record, leading the MPSL standings.
Meanwhile, the U13 team gained valuable experience in the Saskatoon President’s Tournament, facing tough competition and showing improvement over the weekend. Despite not securing a win, players like Mackenzie Bartlett, Kylie Wiebe, and Hailey Baldwin showcased their skills on the field. The team will bring back their learnings to Manitoba league play as they look to improve their 1-5 record.
