Severe Weather Update and Extended Forecast from Storm Search 7 Meteorologist Matthew Hidalgo
Severe weather is on the horizon for parts of Eastern New Mexico and the Texas panhandle, as a severe thunderstorm watch and tornado watch have been issued for several counties. Meteorologist Matthew Hidalgo is warning residents to stay weather aware as storms may become strong to severe, with hail and wind being the major threats.
The extended forecast shows that storms may bring up to tennis ball size hail and winds up to 70 mph. Tornado activity is possible, and localized flooding may occur with slow-moving or training storms. Hidalgo advises residents to have a way to receive severe weather alerts and to stay up to date with the forecasts.
Although Thursday looks to be another active day, with temperatures in the 70s, the main focus will be on the rain chances throughout the week. Hidalgo urges residents to remain Weather Ready and to download the Storm Search 7 weather app to stay informed on the go.
