Five Generations of Johnson Transportation: A Family Legacy of School Bus Service
Johnson Transportation Celebrates Five Generations of Service
For over a century, Johnson Transportation has been a staple in Warren County, providing children with safe and reliable transportation to school. What started in 1924 with Axel Johnson and his horse and buggy has now evolved into a fifth-generation family business.
Axel and his wife Olga laid the foundation for the business, which was then passed down to their son Robert and his wife Lois. The torch was later carried by their son John and his wife Caroline. In 2019, the legacy continued as John and Caroline’s daughter, Connie Johnson, and her son, Cody Haight, took over the reins of Johnson Transportation.
To mark this significant milestone, the family business received recognition from local officials, including Sen. Scott Hutchinson and Mike Keihl of the Warren County School District. The Warren County Visitors Bureau also joined in celebrating the legacy of Johnson Transportation.
As part of the celebration, Connie and Cody organized a charitable event, including a “Stuff the Bus” donation drive for a local food pantry and a basket raffle that raised over $3,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Thanks to their efforts, a Warren County child named Liam and his family were able to experience his wish of visiting theme parks in Florida.
With 14 school bus routes and 19 van routes covering various schools in Warren County, including Tidioute Charter School, St. Joseph Catholic School, and Warren County Christian School, Johnson Transportation continues to be a vital part of the community. In addition to daily school transportation, the company also provides services for field trips and other activities.
The dedication and commitment of five generations of the Johnson family have made Johnson Transportation a trusted and beloved institution in Warren County. As they look towards the future, Connie and Cody are proud to carry on the family legacy and continue providing exceptional transportation services to the community.
