AIDP, Inc. Reveals Promising Results of Clinical Study on Oral Keratin Supplement for Skin and Hair
The beauty-from-within category is booming, and supplement manufacturers are taking notice. AIDP, Inc., a specialist in functional ingredients, recently highlighted the results of a clinical study on its Keragen-IV oral supplement for skin and hair, published in the journal HealthMed.
According to AIDP, when U.S.-based women were asked about their least comfortable physical issues, hair thinning and weight problems tied for the top spot at 23%. In response to this, the company conducted a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study on 65 female subjects aged 45-60 with healthy skin but damaged or stressed hair.
For 60 days, the participants were given either the Keragen-IV supplement or a placebo. The results were impressive – a 43.1% reduction in hair loss was observed, along with improvements in hair keratin structure and skin elasticity. The study also showed a 12.5% reduction in trans epidermal water loss (TEWL), indicating improved skin barrier function.
Jennifer Gu, Ph.D., vice president of R&D at AIDP, Inc., commented on the findings, stating, “This study verifies Keragen-IV’s role in hair anchoring, which is a concern for many women experiencing hair loss due to hormonal changes or stress. It also indicated Keragen-IV’s role in skin elasticity, which can deteriorate as one ages.”
Keragen-IV is a solubilized functional keratin sourced from New Zealand sheep’s wool, with a structure similar to human hair keratin. The product is vegetarian certified and has shown promising results in improving skin and hair health.
With the beauty-from-within trend on the rise, AIDP’s Keragen-IV supplement could be a game-changer for women looking to address hair thinning and skin issues from the inside out.
