Update on Kristaps Porzingis’ Injury Recovery Ahead of NBA Finals: Will He Be Ready for Game 1?
The Boston Celtics have been on a tear this postseason, going 9-1 since Kristaps Porzingis went down with a calf injury in Game 4 of the first round. As they gear up for the NBA Finals, the question on everyone’s mind is whether Porzingis will be ready to make his return.
According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, there is hope and optimism surrounding Porzingis’ potential return for Game 1 of the Finals on June 6. While there are still hurdles for him to clear, Charania believes that the next week-plus will give him the time he needs to ramp up and get ready.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski had previously reported that there was a possibility Porzingis could return as soon as Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals, but he remained sidelined as the Celtics completed a series sweep against the Pacers.
Despite Porzingis’ absence, Celtics guard Payton Pritchard shared an encouraging update on his teammate, saying that he looks really good and will be ready shortly. With Al Horford stepping up in Porzingis’ absence, the Celtics have managed to continue their winning ways.
If the Dallas Mavericks advance, Porzingis’ presence will be critical to combat their dynamic frontcourt duo. With all signs pointing towards Porzingis being on track for Game 1, Celtics fans can look forward to his potentially significant impact in the championship series.
