Highlights from the June Township Meeting in Wayne
Wayne Township Supervisors Discuss Road Maintenance, Zoning Permits, and More
In a recent monthly meeting held on June 10, Wayne Township supervisors discussed various important issues affecting the community. Roadmaster Logan Mather provided a report on road maintenance activities, including grass mowing and road grading. He also mentioned that crews would be brining Crosscut Road the following day.
One resident raised concerns about a crack in the concrete under a nearby bridge, but Secretary-treasurer Chris Hornick reassured that PennDOT had inspected it and deemed it to be part of normal wear and tear, not affecting the structure’s functionality.
The board also tabled a review of Resolution 24-05, which establishes a fee schedule for zoning permits and penalties for non-compliance. Additionally, supervisors discussed the potential purchase of a fuel cell from an individual at a lower cost than buying from a store, pending further information.
During the meeting, supervisors addressed the recent tire recycling event, noting that two semi trailers were partially filled and that there are fees associated with disposal. They also announced that gravel bids, compliant with PennDOT guidelines, were being accepted until June 14.
In a significant decision, supervisors voted to extend an agility agreement with PennDOT for another five years, with the possibility of a further three-year extension. They also considered withdrawing from the Council of Governments (COG) and discussed potential project options for 2025, which could be funded in part by a dirt and gravel grant.
In previous meetings, the township renewed its QuickBooks subscription at a reduced cost and completed a lock replacement project. The next Wayne Township meeting is scheduled for June 24 at the municipal building on Sciota Road.
Overall, the supervisors’ meeting covered a range of important topics impacting the community, demonstrating their commitment to addressing key issues and ensuring the township’s continued development and maintenance.
