Featured AI-Generated Sports News Bulletins Introduced by GB News Radio
GB News Radio, the audio-only simulcast of the television GB News channel, is set to introduce AI-generated sports news bulletins to its radio station. These 30-second sports updates will be aired at the end of the main news bulletins, which are broadcast at 30 minutes past the hour from 6.30am to 11.30pm.
The sports bulletins are written by generative AI using articles from gbnews.com and are then read out by “the virtual voice” of GB News presenter Tatiana Sanchez. GB News chief digital officer Geoff Marsh stated that this AI rollout is just the beginning of their plans, as they are also experimenting with advanced video-to-text transcription and other gen-AI developments to deliver news faster and more accurately across all platforms.
According to Marsh, these AI updates are fast, smooth, and require minimal human intervention. They provide up-to-the-minute sports news seven days a week and are delivered in Tatiana’s familiar voice. This move makes GB News the first UK news broadcaster to integrate generative AI into its regular public-facing output.
While GB News is leading the way in AI integration in news broadcasting, the London-focused site of regional publisher National World introduced an AI-generated weather presenter back in October 2023. This shows a growing trend in the industry towards utilizing artificial intelligence to enhance news delivery.
Overall, GB News’ introduction of AI-generated sports news bulletins marks a significant step in the evolution of news broadcasting, showcasing the potential for AI to revolutionize how news is produced and delivered to audiences.
